A Night To Remember: Cakes, Art & Auction Westminster Schools' annual arts fundraiser, Wednesday evening, April 18th, was unforgettable! Our Let Them Eat Cake tradition has inspired astounding confections for
more than 10 years. This year's extravaganza featured hall galleries filled with student art. The cakes included a Spider, Alice in Wonderland, VTrans excavators and Ben & Jerry's ice cream. And the auction!! Just when you think you've seen them all, the troupe of students, staff and volunteers put on an even more surprising show. The evening was fun, fun, fun - and the proceeds were sweet, too: more than $1,000 raised to support special arts programming in our schools. |
For Parents
The Westminster Schools send home announcements and communication to parents in written form on the first Friday of each month. Many of the teachers include newsletters from their programs along with the all school announcements. The newsletter is known as the Friday Notes. In the future, we will be sending the notes electronically. We ask for emails on our registration and will send the "notes" electronically, unless requested to send a paper copy. Hopefully, this will reduce paper and printing - and still meet our communication needs. We still encourage all teachers to send home bi-weekly classroom notes. We will check in with parents to see if we are still
meeting needs - and of course we can always have special editions!
For Visitors
Westminster is in southeastern Vermont, the third largest town in Windham County, with 3,210 people (2000 Census) and about 420 students enrolled in school. The town schools have 192 students in K-6th grade in two schools. Westminster has no public 7-8 grades, so students attend local public and private schools, many of the students attend the Bellows Falls Middle School (the closest public
school and part of WNESU) and Compass School, which is located on Route 5 in Westminster. Seventh and eighth graders also attend Dummerston School, Putney Grammar School, Hilltop Montessori, Kurn Hattin Homes and Putney Central School.
