Celebrate art - and eat it, too!
A big Thank You to the Westminster community for once again supporting our schools. Family and community members donated and purchased 61 cakes for our auction, as well as more cakes sold by the slice. Here is just a sampling of the artistry on display! The event earned almost $2000, which will support Arts programs in the schools.
Parent Satisfaction Survey -
Thank you, also, for responding to the survey sent out by the Action Plan Committee. We value your input as we continue to work to improve educational opportunities for Westminster children. The results will be presented to the full committee and the school board this spring.
For Parents
The Westminster Schools send home announcements and communication to parents in written form on Fridays. Many of the mini-schools include weekly newsletters from their programs along with the all school announcements. Collectively, these have been known as the Friday Notes. We are in the midst of revising the frequency of the Friday Notes - sending them out the on the first Friday of each month - and renaming them First Friday Notes. We hope that this will meet the needs and also reduce the redundancy in some of our communication. We encourage all teachers to send home frequent classroom or team notes. We will check in with parents to see if we are still meeting needs - and of course we can always have special editions.
For Visitors
Westminster is in southeastern Vermont, the third largest town in Windham County, with 3,210 people (2000 Census) and about 420 students enrolled in school. The town schools have 210 students in K-6th grade in two schools. Westminster has no public 7-8 grades, so students attend local public and private schools, many of the students attend the Bellows Falls Middle School (the closest public school and part of WNESU) and Compass School, which is located on Route 5 in Westminster. Seventh and eighth graders also attend Putney Grammar School, Hilltop Montessori and Putney Central School.
